Coinbase Extends Crypto-to-Crypto Trading Services To 11 More Countries

With direct trading between cryptos becoming more popular than fiat-to-crypto trading, Coinbase expanded its crypto-to-crypto trading service to 11 more countries across Latin America and Southeast Asia. The U.S-based cryptocurrency exchange has added Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Peru, and South Korea to the list for trading between cryptos. With this, the trading is now available in 53 countries.

Ransomware payments in cryptocurrency surge 89% in first quarter

According to a report by Coveware, the average daily ransom being paid in cryptocurrency to attackers surged 89 percent to $12,762 in the first quarter of 2019 from $6,733 in the preceding fourth quarter of 2018. The increase was aided by ransomware like Bitpaymer, lencrypt and Ryuk. Bitcon remained the most preferred cryptocurrency for ransomware payments, accounting for 98 percent.

Nestlé, Carrefour partner IBM To Put Mashed Potato Brand On Blockchain

Swiss food major Nestlé and French supermarket chain Carrefour tied up with IBM Blockchain to track a popular mashed potato brand in Europe on the Blockchain to bring consumers greater transparency of its supply chain and manufacturing. Nestle Maggi's Mousline instant mashed potato will be tracked using blockchain-based Cloud network IBM Food Trust.

Corporate Traveller Partners BitPay To Accept Cryptocurrency Payments

UK-based Corporate Traveller is in deal with Bitcoin and blockchain payments provider BitPay to facilitate payment using cryptocurrencies for its SME customers for business travel bookings. Corporate Traveller will accept bitcoin and bitcoin cash payments. BitPay will handle the entire process of getting the Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash from the customer and depositing cash into Corporate Traveller's account.

As of this writing, Bitcoin is gaining 0.7 percent or $36.45 to trade at $5253.24 on Coinbase. Ethereum is rising 2.57 percent or $4.18 at $166.51.
