Gil Medical Center To Develop Blockchain-powered Health Data Management Solution

South Korea's Gachon University Gil Medical Center tied up with health data marketplace Longenesis to design and deploy a custom made blockchain-powered health data management solution.

The new solution will be built on U.S.-based blockchain technology company Bitfury's open-source Exonum blockchain framework. It will offer a transparent, protected data environment that records critical actions onto an immutable, decentralized ledger.

This will help streamline data collection and aggregation, improve medical research processes and enable transparent patient consent management to better manage consent forms and statuses for individual researchers, which will facilitate the advancement of clinical trials.

The solution will also enable Gil to upload, store and manage the data of individual patients in a secure environment, giving full control of data usage and access back to patients. It will help Gil to better analyze and assess the treatment quality of their patients in real-time, helping them to evaluate the performance of doctors and safeguard patient care.

The hospital is now the first in South Korea to adopt Longenesis' blockchain-based health data management solution.

Recently, BitFury entered a deal with Longenesis to develop a new blockchain-powered medical consent solution to help accelerate healthcare research. It will help doctors and patients to streamline data collection for medical research. It will be built on Bitfury's Exonum framework with timestamping for future auditing.

The solution will enable easier tracking and management of user consent for individual studies and medical trials, while also making it easy for users to change or withdraw their consent for these studies at any time.

The solution is being tested with several industry partners and is designed to be implemented across several organizations such as pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and clinics, contract research organizations, genome sequencing companies and insurance companies.
