Women Dominate Americana Music Awards Nominations

In contrast to other music awards shows, all of the nominees for the Americana Music Association's award for Artist of the Year are women.

Brandi Carlile, Mavis Staples, Kacey Musgraves, and Rhiannon Giddens are the nominees for the award.

Lori McKenna also earned nominations for Album of the Year for The Tree and for Song of the Year for both "By Degrees" and "People Get Gold," which she also wrote.

Producer Dave Cobb received three nominations, all in Album of the Year category. Yola and John Prine earned two nominations each.

The awards show is scheduled to be held on September 11 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
