Azim Premji To Retire As Wipro Executive Chairman; Son Rishad To Take Over

Wipro Limited (WIT), an information technology, consulting and business process services company, said that its founder Azim Premji will retire as Executive Chairman upon the completion of his current term on July 30, 2019 after having led the company for five decades. However, he will continue to serve on the Board as Non-Executive Director and Founder Chairman.

Azim Premji's son Rishad Premji, Chief Strategy Officer and Member of the Board, will take over as the Executive Chairman of the company.

The company also said that Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Abidali Neemuchwala will be re-designated as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

The changes will be effective July 31, 2019, subject to shareholder approval.

Air Canada has extended its grounding of Boeing's 737 MAX-8 aircraft and removed it from its flying schedule until February 14, 2020. The airline had earlier said its fleet of 24 grounded jetliners will not join its schedules until January 8, 2020. The Canadian flag carrier said the extension is a result of the ongoing regulatory uncertainty about the timing of the aircraft returning to service. Google rolled out its Live Caption feature, which was first introduced at its I/O developer conference in May this year. The technology will automatically caption videos and spoken audio on a device, except for phone and video calls. It is helpful when a user is in a loud commuter train, or wants to follow along the conversation more closely. Morgan Stanley (MS) reported Thursday a profit for the third-quarter that increased 2 percent from last year, reflecting higher fixed income revenues. Quarterly revenues also rose 2 percent. Both earnings per share and revenues topped analysts' expectations.
