Sensex Down 130 Points In Early Trade; Nifty Slips Below 11,900

Indian shares opened a tad lower on Thursday, tracking weak global markets as investors fretted about slowing global growth.

The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 130 points or 0.33 percent to 39,625 while the broader Nifty index was down 45 points or 0.38 percent at 11,861.

Jet Airways shares fell nearly 12 percent. The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) said it would remove shares of the airline from daily trading from June 28.

Reliance Capital slumped 5.4 percent as its statutory auditor Price Waterhouse and Co. Chartered Accountants Llp (PWC) resigned without submitting its audit report for fiscal 2019.

BPCL and HPCL climbed 1-2 percent after oil prices fell as much as 4 percent on Wednesday.

Tata Motors shed 0.7 percent on reporting a 23 percent fall in global sales in May.

Sintex Industries tumbled 9.5 percent after defaulting on non-convertible debentures (NCD) worth Rs. 86 crore.

YES Bank plunged 8.5 percent to extend recent string of losses.
