Vampire Weekend, Phish Cover 'Gloria' In Honor Of Blues' Stanley Cup Win

Vampire Weekend and Phish covered Laura Branigan's 1982 pop anthem "Gloria" as a tribute to the St. Louis Blues after the team won their first ever Stanley Cup.

The Blues had been using "Gloria" as a postgame celebration song throughout this amazing season.

Vampire Weekend played at St. Louis' Fox Theatre on June 12 and played "Gloria" as their first encore. Meanwhile, Phish, who played at Chaifetz Arena, opened their second set with their version of "Gloria."

According to Stereogum, the Blues adopted "Gloria" as their locker room song after a few of the Blues players spent an off-night in a Philadelphia sports bar, where the DJ kept playing the song. They started asking their arena to play it after victories, and it became the victory song of the season.

The Blues won their first Stanley Cup with a win over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday, June 12. Their journey to the final was a storybook finish.

The team was in last place in January, with the worst record in the NHL. They then clawed back from that situation to reach the finals.
