Reports: Brazil's Odebrecht Files For Bankruptcy Protection - Quick Facts

As per media reports, Brazil's Odebrecht has filed for bankruptcy protection in order to restructure the company's debt. The bankruptcy protection request does not cover all of the company's subsidiaries.

Odebrecht is a global organization of Brazilian origin, with operations in 25 countries. Its seven Business Units operate in the petrochemical, engineering & construction, infrastructure, agroindustrial, oil & gas, transport, real estate and shipbuilding industries.

In 2016, the company embarked on a transformation journey throughout the entire Odebrecht Group. In 2017, it held the first meeting of the Global Advisory Council and, in 2018, renewed the board of directors of Odebrecht S.A.

Facebook has launched its new payment platform called 'Facebook Pay' in the U.S., joining other tech giants like Google and Apple that have their own payment platforms. The new service will be available across Facebook and its associated apps - Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp, the social media giant said in a blog post.
