The Beatles' First Contract With Brian Epstein Headed To Auction

The Beatles' first contract with manager Brian Epstein, signed 56 years ago, is up for auction.

The original management contract dated January 24, 1962 will be auctioned online-only by Sotheby's auction house in London from July 1 to July 9.

The historic document, which was signed by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and original Beatles drummer Pete Best before the band achieved worldwide fame, is expected to fetch $256,000 to $385,000.

"[Epstein] was just blown away by the passion, the energy, the charisma, the raw sexuality on stage," Gabriel Heaton, a specialist at the Sotheby's auction house, told the BBC.

"They had the stage energy but he instilled a sense of professionalism in them," he added.

A second contract that the Beatles signed with Epstein was auctioned for more than $550,000 in 2015.
