Volkswagen Group Introduces Sustainability Rating For Suppliers - Quick Facts

To ensure a sustainable supplier network, the Volkswagen Group will introduce a Sustainability Rating for all its suppliers starting 1st July 2019. The focus of the Sustainability Rating would be on risks related to human rights, environmental protection, corruption.

In a Sustainability Rating, the data provided by the suppliers regarding their sustainability will be cross-checked by qualified third parties. Any misconduct in the procedure could lead to exclusion from the award of contracts.

In the future, the Volkswagen Group also plans to extend the Sustainability Rating to CO2 emissions in the supply chain.

Apple Inc. warned that its newly launched titanium Apple Card can be easily damaged if not stored properly. The company advised that the card must be kept away from fabrics like leather and denim as they can cause permanent discoloration. The tech giant has posted a support page that provides instructions to users on how to protect and maintain their Apple Card. Southwire Co. LLC recalled about 3000 units of Garvin pop-up electrical outlet floor box kits for concerns of fire hazard. The company said the electrical receptacles can overheat when in use. Southwire already received three reports of the floor boxes overheating. However, there have been no injuries reported so far. The Pentagon has canceled a billion dollar contract with Boeing Co. for a new ballistic missile interceptor due to technical design problems. The contract was for developing the Redesigned Kill Vehicle or RKV, intended to intercept and shoot down current and future-generation incoming ballistic missiles from North Korea and Iran at extremely high altitudes.
