The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to Oscar winners Adele, Lady Gaga and Annie Lennox to join the organization.

Gaga was first nominated for best song in 2015 for "Til It Happens to You" from The Hunting Ground and won the award for "Shallow" from A Star Is Born.

Adele won the Oscar for the best song in 2012 for "Skyfall," while Lennox won in 2003 for "Into the West" from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

The singer-songwriters are among 842 artists and executives, who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures, invited by the Academy to join its ranks this year.

Half of the 2019 class is women, and 29 percent of them are people of color. The invitees represent 59 countries.
