J D Wetherspoon 10-week LFL Sales Up 6.9% - Quick Facts

J D Wetherspoon plc (JDW.L) reported that, for the 10 weeks to 7 July, the Group's like-for-like sales increased by 6.9% and total sales were up by 6.6%. For the year-to-date period, like-for-like sales rose by 6.7% and total sales increased by 7.4%.

The Group's fiscal year expectation is unchanged. Net debt at the end of the current fiscal year is anticipated to be about 745 million pounds. The preliminary results with respect to the fiscal year ending 28 July are due to be announced on 13 September 2019.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission or CPSC is advancing with its proposed rule to ban padded, pillow-like crib bumpers amid increasing incidents of infant injury and deaths. In a statement, the agency said it voted unanimously last week to move forward with rulemaking on a federal safety standard for crib bumpers. The contract includes eight aircraft for the U.S. Navy, six for the Republic of Korea Navy and four for the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The U.S. Navy's contract comes at a time when the aircraft maker continues to struggle amid the 737 Max crisis and COVID-19.
