Uber Rolls Out 'Uber Comfort' Rides Across U.S.


Uber Technologies added more comforts to its ride-hailing service across the U.S. for riders who are most often on the move. The "Uber Comfort" option on the Uber app is aimed to enhance the experience with a quite ride and extra legroom.

Uber Comfort will upgrade the everyday ride with newer mid-size cars and extra minimum legroom. The ride also offers riders the preference to request for an ideal temperature in advance and let the driver know you need a quite ride without conversations.

According to reports, this could cost the rider 20%-40% more than the standard Uber X rides.

Drivers of the Uber Comfort ride will be required to maintain a rating of 4.85 or higher to be eligible for this new scheme.

In May, Uber had rolled out enhanced features for Uber Black and Uber Black SUV. Apart from the quite mode and temperature control on Uber Comfort, the Uber Black and Uber Black SUV service will provide help with luggage, extended pickup period, access to premium phone support and pick-up by a professional, commercially-licensed driver.

Last month, Uber had said it would pilot Uber Air flying-taxi services in Dallas and Los Angeles as well as in Melbourne, Australia. It will launch fleets of small, electric VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft, with demonstrator flights beginning in 2020 and commercial operations in 2023.

In June, Uber began test flights for Uber Copter services in New York City. The new service will take passengers between Lower Manhattan and Kennedy International Airport, an eight-minute flight. The service will be available only to Platinum and Diamond members of the company's loyalty program, Uber Rewards.
