Blockchain healthcare platform Solve.Care is partnering ride-hailing service Uber Health to better medical transportation by improving access to medical care. The partnership is expected to help healthcare organizations to provide accessible and affordable rides to patients and caregivers.

According to Uber Health, an estimated 3.6 million Americans miss their medical appointments every year due to a lack of reliable transportation. The cost of missed primary care appointments is estimated at $150 billion annually.

The partnership will integrate Uber Health's transportation solutions into Solve.Care's Care.Wallet, a personal healthcare coordination and administration application.

The Care.Wallet can be used by patients to schedule Uber Health's HIPAA compliant rideshare solution to pr-eapproved and predetermined care appointments, without the need for the Uber app, immediately or by scheduling.

The patients can also automatically pay for the ride with their Care.Wallet using the native Solve utility token and share ride costs with their family members, employers, insurers and others.

Care.Wallet with support for Uber Health is scheduled to be released within the second quarter of 2019 and is expected to be deployed by a US insurer in the third quarter of 2019.

Solve.Care is a blockchain-enabled healthcare administration, coordination and payments as well as care coordination platform between patient, doctor, pharmacy, laboratory, employer, insurer, and all other parties in relation to assistance, arrival, costs and schedule adjustments.

Uber's smaller rival Lyft, which was launched in 2012, also had entered into a similar partnership with Solve.Care in early March this year.
