The recipients of this year's Kennedy Center honors have been announced, and the prestigious list includes Linda Ronstadt, who began her 44-year-long career at the age of 25 in 1967.

Also being honored with the award for Lifetime Achievement In The Arts is music group Earth, Wind & Fire, who came together in Chicago in 1969, since which time they have released 21 studio albums in total.

Other recipients of the award include actress Sally Field, conductor Michael Tilson Thomas and the kids television program "Sesame Street," which originally aired more than 50 years ago.

The awards will be handed out at a gala ceremony to be held in December of this year.
