On October 9, Metallica will release S&M², a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the original "S&M" concerts, album, and film.
The metal rock band announced that this commemorative performance will be exhibited in around 3,000 movie theaters across the world. Tickets are set to go on sale on August 7.
S&M² will be recorded live on September 6 and September 8 in the Bay Area.
"We'll be performing several tracks from the original '99 S&M release as well as symphonic versions of new songs released since then," the band said on its website.
Metallica will play the songs during a concert that also marks the grand opening of the state-of-the-art Chase Center in Mission Bay.
The band the want to share the unique performance with fans who can't attend either of the gigs in the Bay Area.
