HELLA FY Adj. EBIT Rises; Adj. Sales Up 5.0% - Quick Facts

HELLA GmbH & Co. KGaA (HLKHF) reported that its EBIT increased to 808 million euros in the fiscal year 2018/2019 from 574 million euros, prior year, due to extraordinary income from the successful divestment from the wholesale business. Reported EBIT margin was 11.6 percent compared to 8.1 percent. Adjusted EBIT increased by 5.9 percent to 585 million euros. Adjusted EBIT margin was 8.4 percent compared to 8.3 percent.

Fiscal year reported sales decreased to 7.0 billion euros from 7.1 billion euros, previous year, as a result of divestment from the wholesale business and taking the effects of exchange rates into consideration. Currency and portfolio-adjusted sales were up by 5.0 percent. The Automotive segment in particular was the main driver for the company-wide increase in sales in the fiscal year. This was due to high demand for lighting systems and electronic solutions, especially in the area of driver assistance systems and energy management. Reported sales in the segment increased by 6.1 percent to 5.8 billion euros.

"The general conditions for HELLA have noticeably deteriorated in the past fiscal year. Global light vehicle production on the whole is in decline," said HELLA CEO Rolf Breidenbach.

For the current fiscal year 2019/2020, the company projects: currency and portfolio-adjusted sales in the range from around 6.5 billion euros to 7.0 billion euros, and an adjusted EBIT margin in the range from around 6.5 percent to 7.5 percent.

The payment of a regular dividend of 1.05 euros per share is proposed for fiscal year 2018/2019. The company will propose the payment of a special dividend of 2.30 euros per share. The total dividend for the fiscal year would be 3.35 euros per share.
