The Strokes have announced a headlining show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on New Year's Eve.

The Strokes, who were supposed to headline at the Governors Ball festival this past June, allowed festival ticket-holders to have first access to tickets in a pre-sale starting Tuesday.

The band were unable to perform at the Governors Ball Music Festival due to severe weather on Randall's Island in New York.

General admission tickets for the Barclays Center show in Brooklyn will go on sale Friday, August 9 at 10 am local time.

"People wanted us to play a show in NY. So we thought o.k." the Strokes wrote on Instagram.

Booking agent Marsha Vlasic recently told Music Business Worldwide, "The Strokes are coming with new music — we had a heartbreak in New York when they were headlining Governors Ball, the weather destroyed our show and we never played, but having them back on the live music scene is exciting."
