Chvrches Cancel Hong Kong Show Amid Pro-Democracy Protests

Chvrches have canceled next week's concert in Hong Kong in the wake of political unrest in the city.

The Chinese self-administered region has been witnessing months of anti-government protests that have sometimes led to violent clashes with police.

The organizers, Awake Limited, announced the cancellation citing unforeseen circumstances.

Awake Limited said in a statement that it "would like to express our most sincere apologies to all disappointed ticketholders and fans of CHVRCHES, and also our appreciation for your continuous support."

"We truthfully apologize for the inconvenience caused and hope to bring the band to Hong Kong again in the near future," the organizers added.

The Scottish synth-pop group was scheduled to perform their first solo concert at the Asia World-Expo on August 20.
