Hyundai Motor America August Sales Up 12%

Hyundai Motor America reported that its sales for the month of August 2019 were 63,737 units, a 12% increase from last year. Hyundai's retail sales increased 11% in August.

The company noted that Hyundai SUVs set their all-time August total sales record, selling 36,347 units and growing 31% compared with August 2018.

Santa Fe sales (not including Santa Fe XL) were up 8% and Kona sales increased by 34%, which included the best monthly total ever for Kona EV sales.

Apple Inc. said it is allocating more than $400 million for affordable housing projects in California this year. The latest funding is part of its earlier announced $2.5 billion multi year commitment to meet housing crisis in the most populous state in the United States. The money will be used towards affordable housing projects and homeowner assistance programs in the company's home state. US investment bank JPMorgan Chase & Co. reported Tuesday a profit for the second quarter that plunged 51 percent from last year, driven by significantly higher provision for credit losses for reserve builds. Both earnings per share and revenues for the quarter topped analysts' expectations. Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced Monday a $10 billion Google for India Digitization Fund to help accelerate India's digital economy. The investment is planned over the next five to seven years through equity investments, partnerships, and operational, infrastructure and ecosystem investments.
