American Honda Aug Total Sales Up 17.6%

American Honda reported that its total sales for the month of August 2019 increased 17.6 percent to 173,993 units from 147,903 units last year.

Total car sales for the month rose 19.8 percent to 76,538 units from 63,876 units in the prior year. Total Truck sales increased 16.0 percent year-over-year to 97,455 units.

Acura sales rise in August, with ILX jumping 58%, and RDX and MDX combining for over 10,000 sales.

Retail giant Walmart has teamed up with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to enable customers who pay for groceries with SNAP benefits, to gain access to Walmart's pickup and delivery service. Nearly 3,000 Walmart stores in 39 U.S. states are now offering customers receiving SNAP benefits through their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card to complete payments using the EBT card. Apple Inc. said it is allocating more than $400 million for affordable housing projects in California this year. The latest funding is part of its earlier announced $2.5 billion multi year commitment to meet housing crisis in the most populous state in the United States. The money will be used towards affordable housing projects and homeowner assistance programs in the company's home state. US investment bank JPMorgan Chase & Co. reported Tuesday a profit for the second quarter that plunged 51 percent from last year, driven by significantly higher provision for credit losses for reserve builds. Both earnings per share and revenues for the quarter topped analysts' expectations.
