In the latest episode of AXS TV's original series "Paul Shaffer Plus One," the guitarist and lead singer of American rock band ZZ Top Billy Gibbons discussed the musical influences that helped him create his iconic blues rock sound.

"It would be fair to say that from the [Moving] Sidewalks standpoint all of us had come up with this Texas background, and so much of it was this combination of country and western, but hardcore blues and R&B. There was no way around it. You got it," Gibbons told Grammy-winning entertainer Paul Shaffer.

"I don't know if there's any exponent of Texana, but there is a thread that weaves it all together," he added.

During the show he also played some of his hits, including the Muddy Waters classic "Rollin' and Tumblin."
