Pop superstar Taylor Swift's new Netflix documentary, Taylor Swift: Miss Americana, is set to debut at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

The doc, directed by Emmy winner Lana Wilson, is described by Netflix as "a raw and emotionally revealing look at one of the most iconic artists of our time as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice."

Miss Americana is set to show on the first day of the festival, January 23. The movie will be released globally on Netflix early next year.

Last month, in a lengthy statement, Swift claimed that her ex-label boss Scott Borchetta and music manager Scooter Braun were preventing her from performing any of her early material during the American Music Awards as well as in the forthcoming Netflix documentary.

A statement subsequently released by Big Machine Label Group clarified that "recording artists do not need label approval for live performances on television or any other live media."

The statement added that "record label approval is only needed for contracted artists' audio and visual recordings and in determining how those works are distributed."
