Illumina Files Patent Infringement Suits Against BGI In Sweden And U.S.

Illumina Inc. (ILMN) said that it has filed two additional patent infringement suits relating to BGI's sequencing products, including the DNBSeq-400, DNBSeq-T7, and related chemistry reagents.

The first complaint was filed against MGI Tech Co., Ltd. and Latvia MGI Tech SIA in the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, Patents Court in the United Kingdom alleging infringement of four patents.

The second complaint was filed against Latvia MGI Tech SIA in the Patent and Market Court in Sweden alleging infringement of EP 3 002 289 B1. The patents cover Illumina's proprietary sequencing-by-synthesis chemistry.

Shares of Deutsche Telekom AG were gaining around 4 percent in the morning trading after the German telecom giant reported Wednesday a profit in its fourth quarter, compared to last year's loss. The company also projects higher results in fiscal 2020. For the new year, Deutsche Telekom expects another increase in revenue from fiscal 2019 revenue of 80.5 billion euros. Tesla has been ordered to stop work at the site of its proposed $4-billion Gigafactory in the German state of Brandenburg due to environmental concerns, according to reports. The proposed factory was going to be Tesla's first Gigafactory in Europe and its fourth in the world. On Saturday, a German court reportedly ordered the company to stop cutting down trees on the 300-hectare site.
