Aerosmith Drummer Joey Kramer Sues Bandmates Over Exclusion From Grammys

Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer has filed a lawsuit against his bandmates for excluding him from two key events featuring the rock band this week.

Aerosmith will be honored with the 2020 MusiCares Person of the Year Award on Friday night and will be playing at the Recording Academy's tribute show. The band is also scheduled to perform at Sunday's Grammy Awards.

Kramer was replaced with John Douglas last year after the drummer suffered minor injuries.

"Being prohibited from playing with a band that I have given 50 years of my life to supporting is beyond devastating," Kramer said in a statement.

Kramer made it clear that the legal action is not aimed at making money, but because he was "being deprived of the opportunity to be recognized along with my peers for our collective, lifetime contributions to the music industry."

Kramer expressed hope that the band's fans can understand that all that he is trying to do is "get back to playing with the band that they love - and that's Aerosmith with all five original members."

The greatest magic and success of Aerosmith happens when all the band's founding members are together in the house, he added.
