Elton John and his long-term collaborator Bernie Taupin have won the Oscar for Best Original Song.

The duo won the award for "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again," featuring music by John and lyrics by Taupin. The song is featured in the 2019 Elton John biopic, Rocketman.

John and actor Taron Egerton, who portrayed the singer in the film, performed the song together.

Ahead of the announcement of the award, John delivered a soulful performance of the song live on the Oscar stage.

This marks the second Oscar win for Best Original Song for John. Twenty-five years ago, the song "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" from the 1994 Disney animated film The Lion King won him his first Oscar.

"(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again" also won the Best Original Song award at the Golden Globes and tied for Best Song at the Critics' Choice Awards.
