South Africa Jobless Rate Steady In Q4

South Africa's jobless rate remained stable in the fourth quarter, data from Statistics South Africa showed on Tuesday.

The jobless rate came in at 29.1 percent in the fourth quarter, the same as seen in the previous quarter.

The number of unemployed persons decreased to 6.726 million from 6.734 million in the preceding quarter.

The number of employed persons increased to 16.42 million in the fourth quarter from 16.37 million in the prior quarter.

Employment increased in six of the ten industries in the fourth quarter with the largest increases recorded in community and social services.
