Sons of Apollo drummer Mike Portnoy paid a nice tribute to his late hero, Neil Peart of Rush, by rocking a few classics from the legend on a tiny seven-piece kids jazz drum kit.

"I think this is to honor my hero Neil Peart. Neil was one of my biggest heroes of all time and this is what you give me to work with?" said Portnoy as he began playing the tiny drum set.

The former Dream Theater drummer started off with "Yuz" and "The Spirit of Radio" and then played "name that tune" with his bandmate Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal.

Portnoy felt the brief session should be used for a good cause, saying, "I know we had a lot of fun, but all joking aside, losing Neil has been truly devastating and heartbreaking and I don't want to make light out of that. To get serious for a moment, we are going to auction this off."

"I'm gonna sign it and the proceeds for this are going to go toward brain cancer research," he added. "I just wanted to say, Neil, rest in peace. You'll always be my hero and I love you. Thank you for everything."

The proceeds from the sale of the drum kit will go toward the American Brain Tumor Association.

Peart died last month after a long battle with brain cancer.
