US-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has enabled support for users of their wallets to send cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin using short user-friendly addresses instead of traditional long hexadecimal addresses. Every Coinbase Wallet user has a small and simple username.

Coinbase Wallet users can now send cryptos to Coinbase Wallet usernames like @walletfan, and Ethereum Name Service (ENS) addresses like walletfan.eth instead of their full-length crypto address. Users can also easily send crypto back to their linked Coinbase account with just a few taps.

Users will now be able to send money without the fear of having copied and pasted addresses incorrectly. Earlier, users had to use crypto addresses like : 0x89136a83664fa0673930be34463e444260775dc or 3GVBSgLLLjAoNRKxw5hm7kANN2P2mEQJy.

The Coinbase Wallet has integrated services that let the user associate a short human readable name with their crypto addresses to enable the process of sending crypto to wallet usernames.

Users can now easily send money globally to friends and business partners like they do with traditional payment apps, but in crypto, without the fear and stress of making mistakes in wallet address. They also have the option of keeping their username private with a privacy toggle to the settings menu in the Wallet app.

Coinbase wallet users can send all currencies supported currently by the wallet, such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, XRP, Stellar Lumens, Dogecoin, and all ERC20 tokens including USDC and DAI.

In December last year, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong was also officially granted a U.S. patent for a system and method for transacting Bitcoin or BTC via email to an email address owner.

Coinbase also recently became the first pure-play crypto company to be approved as a Visa principal member. This membership will enable Coinbase to issue Visa debit cards known as 'Coinbase Card' directly without depending on third-party issuers. This will enable customers spend their crypto balances direct from their Coinbase account.
