Gilead, Second Genome Enter Four-year Strategic Collaboration - Quick Facts

Gilead Sciences, Inc. (GILD) and Second Genome have entered into a four-year strategic collaboration in biomarker and inflammatory bowel disease drug discovery. This will include the identification of up to five drug candidates for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. Second Genome will utilize its Microbiome Analytics Platform to identify biomarkers associated with clinical response to Gilead's investigational medicines.

Second Genome will receive $38 million in an upfront payment, and up to approximately $300 million in success-based milestones. Gilead will have the option to worldwide rights for up to five programs as well as exclusive rights to all biomarkers developed under the collaboration.

Primark US Corp., affiliated to British retailer Primark Stores Ltd., is recalling Kitten Heel Court shoes citing high levels of Chromium, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement. The recall involves about 1,700 units of Primark Wide Fit Kitten Heel Court Pumps with around 1.5 inch heel. The shoes were sold in black and nude microfiber fabric. Marriott International reopened all its hotels in China while it sees a recovery in demand in the United States, Chief Executive Officer Arne Sorenson said. The company had closed majority of its hotels in China and across the world following the spread of coronavirus and related lockdowns. The hotel chain, with around 350 outlets across China, said its occupancy rate in the country is now at 40% Many retailers including Target, Walmart and CVS announced temporary store closures in various regions across the United States following violence and looting amid the unrest related to the death of George Floyd. The street protests, some peaceful and some violent, erupted across the nation after Floyd was mercilessly killed by Minnesota police.
