Country singer George Strait appeared on a recent edition of the "Stars of Texas Storytime" series, in which celebrities hailing from the state of Texas take to Facebook to narrate popular children's bedtime stories.

Announced by Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott, the series has previously featured Kendra Scott, Charlotte Jones Anderson, and Colt McCoy, among others.

The latest episode was helmed by Strait, who read from the book "Never Ask a Dinosaur to Dinner" written by Gareth Edwards and published in 2014.

"Never ask a dinosaur to dinner, really, never ask a dinosaur to dinner. Because a T-Rex is ferocious, and his manners are atrocious, and you'll find that if he's able, he'll eat the kitchen table," he begins. "He'll grow fatter while the rest of you grow thinner, so never ask a dinosaur to dinner."

The program is similar in nature to Dolly Parton's recently launched YouTube series. Dubbed "Goodnight With Dolly," the program kicked off in April and is scheduled to continue for a total of 10 weeks.

"I think it is pretty clear that now is the time to share a story and to share some love," Dolly said. "It is an honor for me to share the incredible talent of these authors and illustrators. They make us smile, they make us laugh and they make us think."
