Country duo Dan + Shay recently broke their 2-month-long social media hiatus to express their condolences and rage about the tragic death of George Floyd, who was brutally killed by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who has since been fired and charged with manslaughter and third-degree murder.

"It is truly devastating to think that someone could carry so much hate. We, as humans, MUST come together to make a change. Racism and discrimination because of someone's skin color is simply just WRONG," the singers wrote in a lengthy post on Instagram, a platform on which the duo has gathered more than 1 million followers.

"This starts at home. We must educate our children, and instill values of love and equality," they continued. "We are all born innocent, and racism is something that is learned. Let's work together, NOW, to make a change. Please use your voice."

In the same post, the singers also shared that while they have been absent from social media, they have silently been working on what they consider to be their best work yet, and are currently putting the finishing touches on it.
