Janelle Monáe has revealed that she is interested in playing the X-Men's Storm in an upcoming Marvel movie.

Speaking to Empire magazine, Monáe said she would "love" to play Ororo Munroe, aka Storm, in a new Marvel movie. She said that she even talked about the idea with Ryan Coogler, the director of Marvel's 2018 hit movie Black Panther.

"I definitely have thrown it out there," she said. "One of my dreams has always been to play Storm. I don't know if she comes in Black Panther, but it would be a dream to have her in it. I don't know where they are with that."

"A lot of women have played Storm and they've done an exceptional job, and I would love to be in that line of artists and get to do Storm justice," she added.

Characters from X-Men comics are expected to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox.

Although Black Panther is romantically linked with Nakia in the MCU, in past comics, Storm and T'Challa have been romantically involved and married as well.
