Kanye West has opened up about his White House bid in a new interview, making it clear that he no longer supports President Donald Trump, who is seeking re-election.

A known supporter of Trump, West told Forbes magazine that he has lost confidence in the Republican President.

"I am taking the red hat off, with this interview," West said, indicating that he no longer supports Trump's "Make American Great Again" campaign. The hip-hop superstar claimed he originally wore the hat as a "protest to the segregation of votes in the Black community."

The rapper said he believes God appoints the President, saying, "If I win in 2020 then it was God's appointment."

West made his political ambition public on Twitter last week, saying, "We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States."
