Scotty McCreery performed a rendition of Vince Gill's "Go Rest High on That Mountain" in honor of his young friend Yameer Greene, who was killed in a car accident in Knightdale, North Carolina, on Tuesday.

The country star shared a video of himself playing the 1995 ballad with his guitar on Instagram.

He dedicated the song to his buddy Yameer, whom he described as one of the kindest and brightest souls he ever met. "Everyone who knew him loved him," according to McCreery.

"Wish I could see those angels faces, when they hear your sweet voice sing," he added.

He also paid tribute to Greene, 26, in a separate Twitter post Wednesday.

"Going to sleep with a heavy heart tonight. Gonna miss you, Yameer.
So many great memories with you that I will always hold on to.
Everyone who knew you, loved you. Rest easy. I cant wait to see you again one day," McCreery tweeted.

McCreery and Greene were church choir and school chorus mates in North Carolina.
