M.D.C. Holdings Q2 Results Top Consensus - Quick Facts

M.D.C. Holdings Inc. (MDC) reported better-than-expected results for the second quarter, fueled by significant revenue growth and margin expansion.

The company's Q2 net income was $84.4 million or $1.31 per share compared to $54.6 million or $0.86 per share last year.

Home sale revenues increased to $886.8 million from $732.8 million generated in the same period of last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.83 per share on revenue of $808.09 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimate typically exclude certain special items.

For the third quarter, the company expects home deliveries to be between 1,900 and 2,100, and gross margin from home sales to be about 20%.

Home deliveries for fiscal 2020 is expected to be in the range of 7,700 - 8,000.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced a Cooperative Interstate Shipment or CIS agreement with the State of Vermont. As per the deal, Vermont is allowed to operate a CIS program, with which certain state-inspected meat and poultry processors can ship their products across state lines, and expand their business opportunities. Moderna said Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with the U.S. to initially supply 100 million doses of its experimental vaccine for COVID-19, mRNA-1273. The U.S. government has awarded up to $1.525 billion for the vaccine. Las Vegas, Nevada-based Mr. Wok Foods has recalled about 200,000 pounds of meat and poultry products for misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service or FSIS said. The recalled products may contain known allergens such as milk, wheat, soy, peanuts, or oysters. They may also contain MSG, sesame products, or sulfites.
