Telstra FY Profit Down

Australian telecom giant Telstra Corp. Ltd. (TLSYY.PK,TLS.AX,TLS) reported that its net profit after tax for financial year 2020 decreased 14.4 percent to A$1.8 billion from last year.

On a reported basis, total income for the year decreased 5.9 percent to A$26.2 billion from the prior year.

The company will pay a final dividend of 8 cents per share, comprising a final ordinary dividend of 5 cents per share and a final special dividend of 3 cents per share bringing the total dividend for fiscal year 2020 to 16 cents per share. This will see A$1.9 billion returned to Telstra's shareholders for the year.

Overall mobile revenue declined A$461 million in fiscal year 2020. Reported postpaid handheld ARPU declined 8.2 percent, or 6.8 percent excluding the impact of COVID-19 on international roaming.

For fiscal year 2021, the company expects total income to be in the range of A$23.2 billion to A$25.1 billion, underlying EBITDA of A$6.5 billion to A$7.0 billion.
