A teaser trailer for the upcoming documentary on the life and career of the late Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott has been released.

The documentary, which is titled Phil Lynott: Songs For While I'm Away, was directed by award-winning Irish filmmaker Emer Reynolds. It is produced by Alan Maher and John Wallace for Cowtown Pictures and Peter Worsley for Eagle Rock Films. The doc is set to be released in Irish movie theaters in the fall.

The documentary features interviews with a variety of musicians, including U2's Adam Clayton, Suzi Quatro, Huey Lewis, James Hetfield of Metallica and Ultravox's Midge Ure. Thin Lizzy members Eric Bell, Scott Gorham and Darren Wharton will also appear in the film.

The documentary will tell the story of how Lynott, a young black boy from working-class 1950's Dublin, became Ireland's greatest rock star. Lynott died in 1986 after a "drink and drug binge" caused heart failure.

"As lead singer with Thin Lizzy, Philip Lynott was a songwriter, a poet, a dreamer, a wildman," according to the documentary's news release. "Told extensively through the words of Phil himself and focusing on some of his iconic songs, the film aims to get to the heart of Philip - the father, the husband, the friend, the son, the rock icon, the poet and the dreamer."
