Whole Foods Market Recalls Vegan Vanilla Cake From 21 Stores

Supermarket chain Whole Foods Market is recalling Vegan Vanilla Cake from 21 stores throughout Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and one store in Tallahassee, Florida, citing the presence of an undeclared soy (soy milk) allergen.

Announcing this, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or FDA said consumption of the product can be hazardous to people who have food allergy or are sensitive to soy.

The affected product was packaged in plastic dome containers with Whole Foods Market scale labels, a PLU code of 41070, and product sell-by date through August 24, 2020. The cake was also sold in the self-serve areas of the bakery department.

So far no allergic reactions have been reported.

People who have purchased this product at Whole Foods Market are eligible for full refund if they produce a valid receipt.
