Morgan Wallen's 'SNL' Performance Canceled After Breaking Covid-19 Protocols

Morgan Wallen's "Saturday Night Live" performance has been canceled after the rising country star broke COVID-19 protocols.

Wallen was set to appear as the musical guest on this week's "SNL," but he was pulled off the show after videos surfaced of him partying and mingling with fans without wearing a mask or practicing social distancing at a football game at the University of Alabama on October 3.

In a video posted on Instagram, Wallen said he was already in New York in preparation for the show. However, "I got a call from the show letting me know that I will no longer be able to play and that's because of COVID protocols, which I understand," he said.

Wallen added that he was not positive for COVID, "but my actions this past weekend were pretty short-sighted and they have obviously affected my long-term goals and my dreams."

"And on a more personal note, I think I have some growing up to do," he added. "I think I lost myself a little bit. I tried to find joy in the wrong places and, I don't know, it's left me with less joy, so I'm going to try to work on that. I'm going to take a step back from the spotlight for a little while and go work on myself. I wish I could have made country music and my fans proud this Saturday, but I respect the decision once again."
