"The Queen's Gambit" that features Anya Taylor-Joy as a chess prodigy is the most-watched limited scripted series, Netflix said in a release.

The show, which was premiered on the platform on October 23, has been watched by 62 million households so far. The hit series has made to the Top 10 in 92 countries and ranked No.1 in 63 countries, including the UK, Argentina, Israel, and South Africa. The reach was even to countries like Russia, Hong Kong, France, Taiwan and Australia.

"Three years ago when Scott Frank (Godless) first approached us about adapting The Queen's Gambit - Walter Tevis' 1983 book about a young chess prodigy - we felt it was a compelling tale. However, I don't think any of us could have predicted that The Queen's Gambit - and the extraordinary Anya Taylor-Joy - would become the global phenomena they are today, or our biggest limited scripted series ever," said Peter Friedlander, VP, Netflix Original Series.

This most-watched series is a TV adaptation of the 1983 book, The Queen's Gambit written by Walter Tevis. Set in 1950s and 60s, the story revolves around Beth Harmon, played by Anya Taylor-Joy. She goes through a series of personal struggles with substance addiction, loss and abandonment, and finally embraces success in the male-dominated competitive chess world.

Created by Scott Frank and Allan Scott, the show also stars Marielle Heller, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Moses Ingram, Bill Camp, and Harry Melling.
