Moderna Shares Tank 3% As Sweden, Denmark Pause Vaccines For Young Adults

Shares of vaccine manufacturer Moderna Inc. (MRNA) are down 3 percent on Wednesday's trading on news that Sweden and Denmark have halted its COVID-19 vaccine for younger age groups after reports of possible rare side effects like myocarditis.

The Swedish health agency said that it was stopping the vaccine shots for people born in 1991 and later as data showed increased cases of myocarditis and pericarditis among youths and young adults, who had been vaccinated. These conditions include an inflammation of the heart or its lining.

Denmark announced that while the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine was the main one for young people aged 12-17 years, it had decided to stop the Moderna vaccine to children under 18 as a precautionary measure.

Currently at $319.50, the stock has traded between $65.49 and $497.49 during the past 52 weeks.
