General Electric Up 6% On Narrower Q2 Loss

Shares of industrial conglomerate General Electric Co. (GE) are rising 7 percent on Tuesday's trading after it posted improved results in the second quarter.

The company reported a net loss attributable to common shareowners for the quarter of $0.78 per share, narrower than $1.08 per share in the prior-year quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings per share for the quarter were $0.78, compared to last year's $0.22. On average, 18 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.38 per share for the quarter.

Currently at $72.19, the stock has traded between $59.93 and $116.17 during the past 52 weeks.
