The United States announced an additional $1 billion security assistance package to bolster Ukraine's arms and ammunition in the fight against Russian invasion.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday authorized the latest U.S. military aid to Ukraine pursuant to a delegation of authority from the President. This marks the largest single drawdown of U.S. arms and equipment to Ukraine. This includes arms, munitions, and equipment from U.S. Department of Defense inventories for Ukraine's self-defense.

Capabilities in this package include additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS); 75,000 rounds of 155mm artillery ammunition; 20 120mm mortar systems and 20,000 rounds of 120mm mortar ammunition; Munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS); 1,000 Javelin and hundreds of AT4 anti-armor systems; 50 armored medical treatment vehicles; Claymore anti-personnel munitions; C-4 explosives, demolition munitions, and demolition equipment; and Medical supplies.

The United State has been consistently reinforcing Ukrainian defense with modern artillery since Russia started attack on Ukraine more than five months ago.

This eighteenth drawdown will bring total U.S. military assistance that the Biden Administration provided to Ukraine to approximately $9.7 billion.

"To meet Ukraine's evolving battlefield requirements, the United States will continue to work with its Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with key capabilities calibrated to make a difference," Acting Pentagon Press Secretary Todd Breasseale said in a statement.
