The company's earnings totaled $46 million, or $0.15 per share. This compares with $222 million, or $0.72 per share, last year.
Excluding items, TransAlta Corp reported adjusted earnings of $30 million or $0.10 per share for the period.
The company's revenue for the period fell 20.0% to $758 million from $947 million last year.
