ORIGIN 3 is a phase III trial of its investigational drug Atacicept for the treatment of immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) in adults.
IgAN, also known as Berger's disease, is a serious and progressive autoimmune disease of the kidney. In up to 50 percent of patients, IgAN can lead to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) or kidney failure, which has considerable morbidity and impact on patients' lives. Proteinuria, or protein in the urine, which can cause foamy or bubbly urine, and hematuria, or the presence of blood in the urine, are some of the symptoms of IgA Nephropathy.
