Shares of Spero Therapeutics Inc. (SPRO) have gained 320% over the last 1 month, driven by positive results from a late-stage trial of Tebipenem HBr, dubbed PIVOT-PO.
PIVOT-PO is a phase III trial that compared the company's lead investigational oral drug, Tebipenem HBr, against IV Imipenem Cilastatin, in hospitalized adult patients with complicated urinary tract infections (cUTIs), including pyelonephritis. The study enrolled 1,690 hospitalised cUTI patients who were randomised to receive either oral Tebipenem HBr or IV Imipenem Cilastatin for a total of seven to ten days.
