Hertz Global Holdings, Inc. (HTZ) shares jumped 37.55 percent to $6.80 on Tuesday's trading after the company reported a return to profit for the third quarter.
The company posted net income of $184 million, or $0.42 per share, compared with a loss of $1.33 billion, or $4.34 per share, a year earlier. Revenue declined 4 percent to $2.48 billion from $2.58 billion in the same quarter last year.
The stock opened at $5.73 and traded between $5.60 and $7.12 during the session on the Nasdaq. It was last seen at $7.05 compared with a previous close of $4.94. Trading volume surged to about 82.8 million shares, well above the average of 9.2 million.
Hertz shares have traded between $2.87 and $9.39 over the past 52 weeks.
