WH Smith Annual Revenue Improves

WH Smith PLC (SMWH.L), a British travel retailer, on Friday posted an increase in revenue for the full year.

For the 12-month period to August 31, the company posted a pre-tax income of GBP 2 million, less than GBP 65 million last year. Pre-tax income before non-underlying items slipped to GBP 102 million from the prior year's GBP 106 million.

Net loss stood at GBP 144 million, or 113.4 pence per share, compared with a profit of GBP 54 million, or 41.2 pence per share, a year ago. Loss from discontinued operations was GBP 113 million as against a profit of GBP 17 million in 2024.

Net income before non-underlying items declined to GBP 75 million from the prior year's GBP 100 million.

Operating earnings plunged to GBP 49 million from GBP 113 million a year ago. Revenue was GBP 1.553 billion, up from GBP 1.473 billion in the previous year.

The Board will pay a final dividend of 6 pence per share, bringing the full-year dividend to 17.3 pence per share. This dividend will be paid on February 12, 2026, to shareholders of record as of January 23, 2026.

Looking ahead, for fiscal 2026, the Group expects to report profit before tax and non-underlying items of GBP 100 million to GBP 115 million. The Group anticipates annual total revenue growth of around 4% to 6%.
