Teradyne, Inc. (TER) shares surged 11.85 percent, gaining $29.58 to trade at $279.11 on Tuesday, after the company reported sharply higher fourth-quarter earnings and revenue compared with last year.
Teradyne posted net income of $257.22 million, or $1.63 per share, up from $146.25 million, or $0.90 per share, a year earlier. Adjusted net income rose to $283.0 million, or $1.80 per share. Revenue climbed 43.8 percent to $1.08 billion from $752.88 million.
The stock opened at $256.42 after closing at $249.53 and traded between $246.80 and $281.00 on the Nasdaq. Volume rose to about 6.24 million shares versus an average of 3.09 million. The 52-week range is $65.77 to $281.00.
