The foreign trade deficit of Cyprus increased in April from a year ago as imports grew faster than exports, preliminary data from the statistical office showed on Tuesday.
The goods trade deficit rose to EUR 1.0 billion from EUR 797.1 million in the same month last year. In March, the shortfall was EUR 705 million.
Total exports of goods rose 7.6 percent annually in April, while imports logged a double-digit growth of 15.1 percent.
During the January to April period, the trade deficit was EUR 3.1 billion, up from EUR 2.7 billion in the corresponding period last year.
